RANDALL G. SIMPSON is a member of the firm focusing primarily on Labor and Employment Law. He maintains an active trial and appellate practice, with an emphasis on employment issues from the employee side. Mr. Simpson has extensive trial experience before juries and judges throughout Alaska. He has also represented clients at trial in Seattle, Washington and San Francisco, California.
Mr. Simpson has been involved in several precedent setting employment matters, including:
- Obtaining one of the largest jury awards in State history for damages in an employment discrimination and retaliatory discharge case.
- Handling the appeal before the Alaska Supreme Court which ruled that an employee could prevail upon showing that gender was simply a motivating factor in any discharge or demotion.
- Handling the appeal in which the Alaska Supreme Court established an employee's right to a hearing before the State Human Rights Commission upon a showing of a prima facie case of discrimination.
Mr. Simpson also brings his clients expertise in matters concerning employee benefits and pension plans. He has advised clients concerning the formation and supervision of ERISA employee pension and health benefit Plans, as well as ongoing compliance with ERISA requirements. |
