CHERYL MANDALA is an associate of the firm with a trial and appellate practice. Ms. Mandala focuses on tort, employment and education cases. She represents individuals, businesses, nonprofit corporations, school districts and municipalities in a broad range of litigation matters including employment and discrimination claims, constitutional rights, personal injury and professional negligence claims.
Ms. Mandala's experience includes:
- Obtaining summary judgment for a municipal entity defending a personal injury and emotional distress action.
- Serving as part of the team making a constitutional challenge to Alaska's state education funding system.
- Serving as second chair in a six-week public employee whistleblower trial leading to a successful verdict.
- Helping achieve a favorable settlement for a municipality defending against emotional distress claims.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Mandala worked in San Francisco representing plaintiffs in civil rights litigation, with an emphasis on employment cases. She then served as a research attorney for the Alameda County (California) Superior Court for almost two years, where she focused on complex environmental litigation. Ms. Mandala also served as a law clerk to Alaska Supreme Court Justice Alexander O. Bryner.
Ms. Mandala received a Masters degree in Public Affairs with a focus on education policy from the University of Minnesota. She has written and published on topics related to education law and policy.
