Attorneys

JDO accepts resumes from smart, talented attorneys interested in joining our collegial firm. We look for academic success, practical experience, and common sense problem-solving skills.

As JDO has grown to be one of the largest firms in the state, it has maintained its collegial, collaborative work environment. Even our young attorneys can expect to have substantial responsibility early in their tenure with the firm, as we expect all of our lawyers to produce good results for clients. We work hard and sometimes the practice of law requires long weekends, but we also take time to enjoy all that Alaska has to offer. Outside the practice of law, our attorneys are active with community organizations, athletics and outdoor pursuits, the arts, and their families.

Summer Law Clerks

JDO hires one or two summer law clerks each year. We are particularly interested in law students who have a prior connection with or demonstrated interest in Alaska. We treat our law clerks as part of the team, and law clerks can expect to work with attorneys on significant cases and transactions. It is not unusual for our law clerks to participate in a major trial or appellate brief during their summer with us.

Support Staff

We are proud that our staff members see JDO as a place to build a career, and that many have been with us for years and years. From time to time, JDO has occasion to hire administrative assistants, paralegals, receptionists, couriers, and others to assist our legal team.
